Bussing Information/Parking Lot
NEW! This year, all students at St. Paul's who live in the catchment area can avail of busing. This will mean an increase in the number of buses on our parking lot. Because of this, the afternoon pick up will have two lines of buses and parents (or any vehicles) will not be allowed on the parking lot once the buses are parked waiting for pick up.

NEW! RESPONSIBLE CELL PHONE POLICY 2024-2025
Rationale: Cell phones create significant distractions in schools, resulting in decreased focus, performance, and overall disengagement. Use of cell phones hinders the development of crucial social skills such as communication and empathy, due to decreased face-to-face interactions. They are also a catalyst for cyberbullying through the use of social media. Excessive cell phone use leads to increased mental health issues, anxiety and depression, and contributes to a sedentary lifestyle with less physical activity and interaction. This responsible cell phone policy is aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment that promotes social and emotional development, and safe-guarding students’ well being.
During the school day, cell phones are not permitted to be out or used in the school building. They must remain in lockers while students are in the building (even during recess and lunch periods). This includes in the hallways and bathrooms during class and between classes. If students are found using their cell phones, they will be asked to put them in their locker.
SCHOOL ABSENCES
To report an absence, please use School Messenger: go.schoolmessenger.ca
NOTE: When using School Messenger, always click on the FULL DAY option when reporting an absence, even is your child will only be absent for a partial day. SafeArrival will NOT mark your child as absent for the full day, instead, at the end of each school day, it will change all the “unexcused absences” to the code you have indicated (absent due to illness, absent excused, etc.). So, even if you indicate they will be absent for the full day, only the periods that they were actually absent will be marked absent in our system according to the code you provide. This update occurs at the end of the school day, so your child will be marked absent unexcused until the update occurs at the end of the school day.
For general attendance inquiries and to sign your child in or out during the school day, email: stpaulsjrh@nlesd.ca
Please note that St. Paul's is equipped with a video/electronic surveilance system.
